Hi Doctors, What relief from PD symptoms does Sinemet provide ? As always thanks for your help.

Improves the slowness, tremors, stiffness and in some patients even the balance. Make sure you are taking the right dosage of the medication._________________Ramon L Rodriguez, MD

Hi Doctors, Thank you for your speedy reply. As a follow up could you please advise what factors determine the correct dose. I have action tremors (but no resting tremors) and take half tablet 25/100 Sinemet at 8am-12pm-4pm-8pm This dosage improves the slowness, stiffness and balance but does nothing for the action tremors. Would an increase in dosage help control the action tremors and if so, would I then be taking too much Sinemet in respect to slowness, stiffness and balance ? Hope you are all having a pleasant Easter break and as always many thanks for your asssistance. PC.

I always tell my patients, of the motor symptoms of PD, stiffness and slowness always respond to meds. Balance problem almost always do not respond to meds. And tremor is very moody. Sometimes they respond beautifully, sometimes, not at all. Thus, in someways, it is not realistic to keep on increasing the meds solely for tremor. If you think there is still room for improvement in the stiffness and slowness, then I am all for increasing your dose to see if tremor will still improve. Yours,_________________Hubert H. Fernandez
